Sashko is solid gold, the guardian angel of our apartment building. He lives with his wife Olenka in the same section as we do. We always greet each other, as good neighbors do. On March 5, he brought us half a bag of potatoes and a package of frozen vegetables…

On March 8, I met this neighbor at the collection point to which people from Irpin were being driven. We hugged and he asked me who was still at our place, because he wanted to break through to Irpin and get people out.

For three days, March 8−10, he kept driving there and evacuating people. He told me how some guy drove up to the bridge in his car, handed over his keys, and said «Keep driving until you run out of gas.»

I think he got about 100 people out March 9 and 10. His parents raised a good son, and I’m proud to know Sashko personally.
